SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 2001--Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq:ATML) announced today the opening of the Atmel RF Wireless and Secure Products Design Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

This design center, Atmel's 27th, will focus on creating new, innovative designs targeting two primary markets: mobile communications utilizing Atmel's RF technologies, and secure products utilizing Atmel's secured embedded nonvolatile memory technologies. This design center will enhance Atmel's ability to provide comprehensive support for the ever-increasing demands of the wireless and e-business markets.
